PNG/Webp, Icons Quality?

So currently PWABuilder only supports PNG files for app icons, splash screens, etc...
But if you import the source code of your project into Android Studio, you have the option to convert the png files to webp images.
And something I have noticed just playing around with stuff is that the image quality using PWABuilder vs Android Studio is huge. (Biggest example of this was installing my app on a Fire Tablet, the native PWABuilder makes the icon very grainy and blurry, but using Android Studio, the icon is solid on Fire Tablets)
The icons quality on devices when using native PWABuilder seem a little blurry on some devices, but when using Android Studio and using the Icon generator and making the icons webp, the icons are top notch quality and look good on every device type like you see from top end companies.

Do you have an implementation or a solution in mind?

Maybe you can expand on the icons and allow icons to be generated somehow, bring adaptive icon support to PWA Builder even as an optional part of the generation process. Or implement webp support vs PNG (which PNG seems to be being outdated now).

The reason we encourage PNG is, all app platforms -- Android, Windows, iOS -- support PNG. That is not true of webp.

Webp can also be lossy, where PNG is lossless. So quality should generally be higher for PNG.

I'm opened to PWABuilder allowing PNG, but we'd also need to update the iOS and Windows platforms to reject your PWA, or alternately, convert to PNG in the background. I don't like either of those options, so this is unlikely to change.

If your icon is grainy or blurry on Fire Tablet, please show a screenshot. I'd also ensure that your icon is the expected size.

I use the 192px & 512px in my manifest and my maskable icon is 1024px. I save them in PNG. But like I said and it's very weird, when using PWABuilder directly they are blurry/grainy, but if I export source code in PWABuilder, import into Android Studio and redo the icons using their generator which converts them to webpages, it fixes the issue.
That's why I brought it up, thought there would be a way to integrate a way for the icon/images asset generator from Android Studio into PWABuilder or something of the sort. Because it seems like it may be a PNG vs webp thing, but it could also be thinking about, the fact that in Android Studio, you submit the foreground and background separately??
Maybe for the best quality icons, the best option is to use PWABuilder, then import the project into Android Studio and redo the icons?
